Project Designer -Timber Engineering

Working from the Architect’s drawings, the structural details are taken off and a quotation is produced.
Once the order is placed, the walls, trusses and other roof components are designed and a material list, production schedules and working drawings are prepared using a bespoke engineering & CAD system. Once the timber frame and roof trusses have been delivered to site, regular site visits will be made to provide on site support and ensure construction is in accordance with the design drawings.

You will have the opportunity to attend both in house and external training courses and learn from experienced staff, eventually achieving relevant qualifications and a comprehensive working knowledge of timber frame design, roof design and associated timber engineering.

You will ideally be qualified to Degree or HND level in a building, architectural or engineering related discipline however attitude and ability to learn are more important than specific qualifications. Knowledge of AutoCAD would be beneficial but is not essential, as training will be given.

Estimator – Timber Engineering

(Position to start at the end of the academic year)

We are seeking to appoint a Graduate to join our established timber engineering estimating department.

The position will involve building working relationships with construction firms, local builders, Architects, developers and private individuals throughout the UK (but mostly in the Yorkshire and Lancashire).

Key tasks will include –

• Offering a prompt estimating service to our clients by interpreting Architects drawings producing detailed timber frame and roof truss quotations using relevant engineering software.
  
• Providing feasibility studies, support and advice to customers ensuring total customer satisfaction.
  
• Offering a high level of customer service and sales follow-ups.
  
• Collaborating with the company’s sales, design, production and project management teams (and the directors) to support our existing projects.
  
• Collaborating with our in-house sales & marketing team to publicise and encourage sales of timber frame, trusses and other complementary products.
  
• Liasing with our own factory, sub contractors, external professionals, hauliers, etc to ensure project time scales are both feasible and achievable.
